[47] Benefits of Massage, Maui Hawaii

Date: October 14th, 2008 | Comments : [1] | Categories: Uncategorized.

I often come across people who simply ask me why should I get a massage?  The benefits of a massage are endless and I will share some of them with you in a moment.  First, imagine you are walking down a street and you twist your ankle, or you wake up in the morning with a stiff neck realizing that somewhere along the lines you may have slept wrong.  Instinctively you rub your ankle or your stiff neck.  You are giving yourself a massaging.

A massage is a wonderful way to give your body a break, a time to slow down and relax, and the benefits not only to your body, but your spirit and mind can be amazing.

Scientifically, the cardiovascular benefits range from improved blood circulation, lowering of the pulse rate, increases of red blood cells and increase platelet count.  The benefits on the Immune system range from the promotion of lymph circulation, an increase of the lymphocyte count, (lymphocytes are white blood cells, this effect indicates that massage supports immune functions.  The benefits on the Nervous system range from reducing stress and anxiety, increase of dopamine levels, reduce feelings of depression, activates sensory receptors and so much more.  I could go on with the effects on the muscles, the connective tissues, the digestive system, I can also share with you research that has been conducted on breast cancer patients and the positive outcomes of their findings.

I can describe to you how I felt during a massage, I won’t mention how many times I have fallen a sleep during a massage because I was so relaxed, or how rejuvenated I felt after wards.  It would be as easy as describing the beauty of the sunrise over Haleakala first thing in the morning, it is simply something that you have to experience for yourself.

Yes, there is medical documentation to support the benefits of massage, yes, test and research have been done on this subject, yes, the history of massage can be dated back to the prehistoric times.

The truth to the benefit of massage is simple, it simply makes a person feel wonderful.  I know what I look like before and after I come out of massage, and I have seen many before and after looks of clients that come to the school to receive a massage and I can tell you that their look of clam relaxation is truly priceless both in the pocketbook and over any research ever conducted.

So to those that ask why should I get a massage? I simply say, just get one and come to find the answer for yourself.

Treat yourself to a massage, find a massage school in your area, many offer student clinic massages to the public at a reasonable price, and if your ever in Maui, Hawaii visit us at The Aloha School of Massage Therapy.

[43] Chair Massage at the Maui County Fair

Date: October 9th, 2008 | Comments : none | Categories: Uncategorized.

A Great Success!!! For the first time, the Aloha School of Massage participated in the Better Living Booth offering Chair Massages at the Maui County Fair.  The excitement and level of participation from both our current students and graduates was truly overwhelming.  We received wonderful feedback from those who received a chair massage on how great they felt after just a few minutes. I have since spoken with many who came by our booth to “check it out” and was surprised to find that some came back to get another massage, some up to 3 to 4 of them.

The Maui County Fair provided a wonderful opportunity for the community to realize that we are right here in Kahului and to remind them of our student clinic massages happening every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.   The students had a wonderful time working together and meeting new people and sharing our commitment to better health through massage.  We want to thank all those who participated and supported the school, we know that you had a wonderful time and so many of you have commented on doing this again next year.

Again a BIG MAHALO to all who made this event a wonderful success and for donating so much of your time and energy to the Aloha School of Massage Therapy.
